Love at First Click | Part 2

Personal

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I thought it would be fitting to share the second part of our love story on Valentine’s Day.  Even though none of this took place around Valentine’s Day, but hey, it’s a cute day for celebrating love!

After that first weekend in February, the days just kept getting better, the phone conversations longer, and the visits more frequent.  Fast forward 2 months, it was just your average April day.  I was sitting in my little teller window at the bank, and my co-worker says “Rebecca, someone is here to see you”.  I turn around and guess what??

There was my Derek!  Now, when you scroll through the photos below, don’t laugh – well, actually, yes, I give you full permission because it’s hard not to.  I either look completely in shock or look like I just saw a deer running through the drive-thru.  ANYWAYS!

I could not believe Derek was here!  He worked it out with my parents and they all planned the whole surprise!  Better yet, I found out he was going to be staying with us for a week!

We spent the week being able to do all the fun little things that regular couples got to do.  We didn’t get that very often since we lived so far apart.  So, these times were extra special for us!

Sunday came around and we went to church with my family to celebrate Easter.  Afterwards, we enjoyed dinner with family and were planning to just enjoy the beautiful day.  Then…

Derek suggested that we go for a walk in the field behind our house.  It wasn’t anything unusual to me because this was something I enjoyed doing often and I had talked to Derek about it.  I was just excited to share this special time with my man.

So, off we went skipping through the field and making wishes on dandelions.

Ehh, yeah, no.

It went a little more something like, off we went hoping we didn’t step in cow poop, fall into a groundhog hole, or step on a snake.  You get the point 😉

We walked to this spot in the field where there were trees, the perfect little spot of rocks to sit on, and cows in the pasture behind us.  It really is very pretty and so close to this country girl’s heart.  We sat down on the rocks and just talked for a while about anything and everything.

Then Derek said he had a note that he wanted to read to me.  I thought, “Aww, that’s so sweet!”  He read the note to me and in it he talked about how God had brought us together, how much he loved me, how much I meant to him, and then!!!!

He got down on one knee and said some of the sweetest words I’ve ever heard, “Will you marry me?”

I was in total shock!  I didn’t see it coming at all.  As he asked me, he pulled out a pink Easter egg, opened it up, and inside sat the most beautiful and sparkly diamond ring.

I immediately said “YES!!”.  I jumped up and wrapped my arms around him.  It was official!  Derek was no longer my boyfriend, he was my fiancé!  All of my dreams and prayers were becoming a reality.  God had placed this sweet man in my life and it was only just beginning.

Photo props to my amazing mom for being our paparazzi this super special week 😉

Stay tuned for the final post next week!
