It was a beautiful, sunny evening in Old Town Alexandria for Kylie and Brett’s engagement session. I think we chose the hottest day of the summer so far for their session, but that’s okay! We made it through and these two were so wonderful – including their adorable dog, Dude.

A few years ago, I photographed Brett’s sister’s wedding. It is such an honor when family comes back for me to capture another family member’s wedding! It will be so fun to not only capture their day, but also see Brett’s sister, husband, and their growing family.

I had so much fun with Kylie and Brett at their Old Town Alexandria engagement session. We talked all things wedding, of course, but we also simply got to know each other and swoon over their adorable puppy! Dude was such a little trooper. It was so hot and I know he had to be miserable with all that fur. He cooperated so well and even “smiled” for some of the photos. Don’t ever be shy about bringing your dog to your session, my answer will always be yes!

Kylie and Brett met in high school and have been together for 8 years. Last year, on the 4th of July, Brett decided it was finally time to ask the girl of his dreams to marry him. They were at the beach with family so that made the proposal even more special.

Now they are in the process of planning a beautiful wedding day at The Oak Barn at Loyalty in September 2023. I simply can’t wait!
